Uses
Dalteparin is used to treat or prevent the recurrence of blood clots (venous thromboembolism) in legs (deep vein thrombosis) or lungs (pulmonary embolism) after surgery, prolonged bed rest or in patients with certain types of cancer. It is also used along with aspirin to prevent formation of clots in bloods vessel in patients with angina (chest pain) or heart attack.
How it works
Dalteparin is an anticoagulant which belongs to the class of medications called low molecular weight heparins. Dalteparin prevents the formation of blood clots.
Common side effects
Reversible decrease in platelet count, Hematoma, Redness, Irritation, Bruising, Bleeding at any site, Pain or swelling at the site of injection
